The “Draft and Stash Report” is published every Thursday to give fans a look into the drafted players that the Celtics currently have playing in other leagues. Boston currently holds the draft rights to Abdel Nader, Marcus Thornton, Guerschon Yabusele and Ante Zizic. Last week’s “Draft and Stash Report” can be found here.
Abdel Nader//Maine Red Claws (NBA D-League)//2016 2nd Round (58th overall)
It’s been a pretty light stretch for the Red Claws, but a pretty significant one for Nader because he did return from minor injuries after missing just one game. Nader did wind up dropping a game high 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting in a 115-108 win over the Windy City Bulls while flirting with a triple-double in the process, finishing the night with nine assists and seven rebounds as well. The Egyptian-born swingman also had two steals, two blocks and committed three turnovers. He and the Red Claws are at the D-League Showcase for the next few days, which showcases the entire league playing two games each under one roof so scouts and team executives can get a good look at everybody.
Marcus Thornton//Consultinvest VL Pesaro (Italy)//2015 2nd Round (45th overall)
Consultinvest VL Pesaro hasn’t played in a while, so there isn’t much to update. The former William & Mary star dropped 19 points off the bench on January 8th, which matched a game high as his team edged out Betaland Capo. Thornton shot 8-for-13 from the field in the process while also grabbing a rebounds and recording an assist in 31 minutes. He’s currently averaging 11.5 PPG through 15 games played, bouncing between the starting lineup and a bench role. The team will play next on Sunday.
Guerschon Yabusele//Shanghai Sharks (China)//2016 1st Round (16th overall)
We learned that Yabusele killed it in the Chinese league All-Star Game the last time we checked in on him, but he dominated in two wins for the Sharks this past week against opponents that were actually putting in effort. The French forward dropped 42 points off the bench in a win on Saturday to go along with 15 rebounds, five assists and two block as Shanghai defeated Liaoning 100-96. They finished up their weekend sweep on Sunday by beating Shanxi 97-92 on Sunday behind another strong outing from Yabusele, who scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.
Ante Zizic//Darussafka Dogus (Turkey)//2016 1st Round (23rd overall)
The Dougs had a light week and Zizic only got ten minutes of playing time in their lone game over the past seven days, grabbing a rebound and not scoring a point. He’s only played five games with them so far after coming over from KK Cibona towards the end of the calendar year and his playing time has been pretty scattered, getting anywhere between ten and 26 minutes randomly since showing up. But there is bigger news outside of his play on the court. Zizic said he fully intends on playing in the NBA next season in an interview with Eurohoops.net, which is big for the European center as he seems confident and ready for the next step in his career.
